Hanif Kureishi (*1954) was born in London to a Pakistani father and an English mother. He has published numerous novels and short stories, but he has also written plays as well as screenplays. In his work he often touches upon topics like nationalism, immigration and race. The short story "My Son the Fanatic" was first published in Many Voices Many Cultures, Multicultural British Short Stories in 1997.
